Thakur reads the interplay of words, lines and colour as a means of transmitting Mithila’s folk culture. Moving through the collection’s heroes and traditions, she argues that picture narrative expands Mithila painting beyond familiar ceremonial subjects. Her discussion links artistic change with cultural continuity and emphasizes women’s role in preserving and renewing folk art.
