The book and its concerns

The edition records first publication in 2020 and copyright years 2020 and 2026. Its contents present forty-two chapters, with disappearing people and documents, family secrets, arrest, bail and ownership of evidence among the named stages. These headings establish an investigative framework, but they should not be substituted for an account of how each event unfolds.

The sampled dialogue admits that memory may retain a detail from a book cover, clothing or childhood without its source being immediately recoverable. At the ending, Madhavi’s question about whether every witness needs a name receives an answer that not all witnesses testify in court. Physical materials remain separately preserved while an unresolved question survives. The closing image permits uncertainty without supplying a false answer: reason has a task and a reach, but completion of that task need not abolish every remaining question.
