The book and its concerns

This collection brings teenage ghazals together with poems and songs in two stated divisions. Its contents move from toys, grandparents, birds and play toward examinations, comparison, digital attention, friendship, work and independent decisions. This is a map of the listed subjects, rather than a claim that each poem has been closely assessed.

The sampled verse gives sound a particularly concrete role: bird calls, night insects and the rhythms of rural work enter the poetic line. The closing song addresses animals and the threshing ground through calls and repeated phrases. Read alongside the contents’ concern with screens and peer pressure, these passages suggest a collection that places contemporary growing-up beside inherited oral and rural sound. The poems’ language invites listening as well as silent reading.
