The book and its concerns

The subtitle places Nyāya philosophy beside a modern crime narrative. The author’s note explicitly presents the people and criminal events as fiction, with social fear, financial networks, digital fraud and the human consequences of crime among its concerns. The opening locates unease in an ordinary household: damp earth, an uncertain lamp, a lightly sleeping grandmother and a mother beside her child make vulnerability domestic before it becomes an abstract question of justice.

A sampled exchange about financial responsibility turns on who knew about a transaction and who was entrusted with it. The ending returns to the riverbank, animals and extinguishing household lamps; watchfulness continues even as the scene grows quiet. These passages support a reading concerned with responsibility and continuing vigilance. They do not establish the whole plot or justify treating the fictional allegations as reports about real people.
