Accessibility and inclusive research access
The site is designed toward WCAG 2.2 AA and maintained as a keyboard- and assistive-technology-friendly research environment.
Implemented support
- Skip link and semantic landmarks.
- Keyboard-operable tabs, selects, disclosure controls, search, and timeline controls.
- Visible focus and reduced-motion handling.
- Text resizing, contrast modes, readable width, link highlighting, image hiding, larger targets, and reader view.
- Alt text and labelled form controls.
- Responsive reflow and read-aloud support.
WCAG 2.2 AA audit checklist
Continuing review covers keyboard order, focus visibility, headings, alternative text, contrast, 200–400% zoom/reflow, language tags, target size, captions/transcripts, and status announcements. Automated testing alone is not treated as conformance.
Known limits
Third-party translation interfaces, external websites, and some reproduced historical images fall outside direct control. Where a historical image is essential, textual description or transcription should accompany it.
