A central figure in the Videha movement, pioneer of the Anchinhar Aakhar movement for the revitalization of the Maithili Ghazal. His theoretical work, Maithili Ghazalak Vyakarana o Itihasa, provided the first systematic grammar for the genre in Maithili. His poetry is characterized by Lāghava (logical parsimony) and a sharp focus on Dhvani.
