Ashok contrasts the two novels Sahasrabadhanee and Sahasrashirsha. The first examines honesty and corruption through successive generations and government service; the second gathers village histories, songs, caste narratives and local knowledge into an expansive social landscape. He values the latter’s recording of oral history and the former’s attention to institutional workings. A preliminary account of digital activity frames, but does not replace, the discussion of fiction.
