Arvind Thakur examines four generations, documentary detail, memory and the novel’s movement beyond a narrowly regional literary frame. He values coherence and readability, yet argues that corruption’s wider public consequences receive too little development compared with personal loss. Having read the English and Maithili versions, he prefers the English reading. His concluding uncertainty over the comet’s symbolism leaves a genuine interpretive question open rather than resolving it through praise.
