Detailed description

Mandal recalls courtyard storytelling and follows the collections through love stories, folk heroes and community traditions. He particularly values their breadth of caste representation and their recovery of narratives for children accustomed to magazines in other languages. His argument presents the books as entertaining cultural preservation; historical and priority assertions remain the contributor’s claims.

This is a signed contribution in the volume’s Preeti Thakur and her creative/archival work strand.
