Jha evaluates the book through children’s needs, migration and the transmission of festivals and folk memory. He argues that inherited plots can still acquire value through new illustrations and participatory colouring pages. Alongside praise for the visual treatment, he finds some narrative transitions too compressed and asks for fuller storytelling, particularly where one tale shifts abruptly into another.

This is a signed contribution in the volume’s Preeti Thakur and her creative/archival work strand.
