Retrieval is useful, but it is not interpretation
The sampled questions retrieve editorial details, publication information and genre labels from the journal. This gives a large archive another route of entry: a reader can discover an unfamiliar item through a question and then return to its source. The format can be particularly useful for checking whether a detail has been noticed.
The limitations appear when a broad interpretive claim is treated like a single factual answer, or when the alternatives are so implausible that little reading is needed to choose correctly. A large question count does not establish difficulty or educational value. Used critically, the book can become an index of prompts: verify the answer, locate the original passage, then ask a question the multiple-choice format cannot settle. This assessment draws on sampled items and does not audit all 10,135 answers.
