Preservation takes more than one visual form

The inspected contents name a range of local figures and traditions, while the book moves between prose discussion, coloured sequential art and line drawings. A prose passage on Sama-Chakeva and later narrative panels show that the volume does not preserve folklore through one uniform documentary method. It stages a meeting between explanation and retelling.

That variety makes the material approachable, but it also asks readers to distinguish a narrated tradition from an independently established historical event. The illustrations provide a visual interpretation; they are not neutral records of how an event looked. The strongest reading attends to what the chosen images emphasise about community, authority and ritual. This note is based on selected pages, not a comprehensive ethnographic assessment or a claim that the volume represents every local variation of belief.
